Hi,

I am the owner of a '98 S70 with about 142,xxx miles on it. A few months ago, the check engine light came on. The codes are as follows:

P0172-System Too Rich Bank 1
P0300-Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected
P0302-Cylinder #2 Misfire
P0303-Cylinder #3 Misfire
P0304-Cylinder #4 Misfire
P0305-Cylinder#5 Misfire

My initial reaction was to do a tune-up. I replaced the usual plugs, wires, cap and rotor. No help. Keep in mind the only noticeable symptom is a rough idle. The idle speed is usually 500-1000 RPM too high, but it then drops back down to normal after a few seconds. I do not notice any loss of power or misfiring while accelerating, although I'm not sure I would really notice anyway.

Any others ideas?

Low fuel pressure? Restricted fuel filter?

 

This forum must be magical. After 6 months of having a CEL and many hours troubleshooting, the problem was solved a day after joining this forum! It was a broken vacuum hose the I had never noticed.

 

Yes I agree this forum does help.

I too have a CEL light that comes on and off intermittently for the last 2-3 weeks

Popped the code - P0172-System Too Rich Bank 1 (just one code)

I would like to check my vacuum lines - is there a link or diagram to show where all the hoses are??
