Default Check engine light on and rough starting in morning

Hi , new here but this is great to have this forum. Anybody having this problem, my 1998 v70 turbo is a little bit difficult to start in most cold mornings. Check engine light is on and our mechanic says there is nothing wrong with the car the last time it was in for abs module. Told me not to worry its fine but I do not like it on. Also the cooling fan is running after it is just started , could be normal but my wife drives the car more then me. Thanks

Ron

What is the codes in the computer?
Might be a bad coolant temp sensor.

Wow, I forgot to mention that my wife also complains it takes a while for the heat to warm up .

That makes a lot of sense what you just wrote...."temp sensor", I'll get the codes first but your good!

Thank you!

Ron

He's not just good, he's the best.

Replacing the thermostat and coolant temp sensor is fairly easy and not expensive at all. Definitely a diy job for anybody who can just turn a wrench. The torx screws holding the housing on is the only tough part. As long as you don't strip them, you will be fine.

Is on the bottom of the Temp housing. I had a p0117 code and replaced the sensor, i noticed something was wrong when my fans were always on and continued to stay on for awhile after i turned the car off. although i just noticed the problem again and got the same code, but i didn't change my thermostat will do that next. I am also noticing slow throttle response when cold and also it has left me in the road dead a few times now as well. wonder if its all the same issues.
