Clutch in the ole t5
So I put the head back on my car and got about 120 kilometers out of it before the clutch started to slip on my way home from my local machine shop. Upon tearing into the car, I found that this was a stock clutch. For the most part it was a reasonably straight forward job, but every bolt on the daggone thing had monster torque on it. I had difficulty getting the starter off, the bottom bolt was ridiculously tight and I didn't pull the rad. fan, so I had a heck of a time getting it loose.
On a positive note, I now have the trans out of the car, and am waiting on a rear main and resurfacing of the flywheel before I throw it back together. It's definitely not happening on the time frame that I wanted, but when I get done with this clutch I will be done with the suspension, steering, motor and drivetrain of this bad lil mama. $3100 in parts plus my labor has built me a sweet ride. Anyhow, I am posting some pics for your viewing pleasure. Enjoy!
