Default cold air intake for my volvo s70

im looking to purchase a cold air intake to attach to my 1999 volvo s70 AWD in the hopes of increasing the gas mileage, horsepower, and overall performance of the engine. Is there a specific model that would work well for volvo or just a quality brand in general?

1. There is really no such thing as a CAI for Volvo. At least most of the models out there.

2. IPD USA & EuroSportTuning both sell and intake kit for the Volvo that will fit the 1999 S70 AWD model. These are not CAI's however they are SRI's (Short Ram Intake).
I personally own the EuroSportTuning model.

3. You wont gain much performance from this. Maybe 2-5 Hp if that. You will gain SOUND a nice deep throaty sound. As for more mileage maybe 1-2 extra MPG if that.

i currently have a cone filter like the link to eurosport shows. it makes alot of noise. but if you want performance, just buy the k&n drop in filter for the stock air box.

They work, just not 100% like the OEM airbox. Your still sucking in HOT air weather you like to think you are or not.

As said before, there is no such thing as a cold air intake for an s70. What's offered by IPD, etc. is a short ram intake. I made my own and saved over $100. I don't know that it added any mpg or hp, but the sound is great.

I used sheet aluminum, 1/2" pipe insulation to make the seal with the hood and slit vacuum hose along the bottom to finish the edge. I attached a photo: http://yfrog.com/n8snc00068oj

the original intake tube that draws air from the grille is still part of the set-up. If you follow the link to the photos there are several other angles that might show this. Also, I removed the flat plastic guard that covers the forward end of the intake. I'm not too stressed about getting water or the occasional pebble in there, because it would be too dense to be drawn into the air filter. Because you're shielded from the engine and the box makes a tight seal with the hood to form an enclosure, you're drawing in only cold air. That being said, there is no such thing as a cold intake for your car. This, and what's sold by IPD,etc. is a short ram intake. You will always get ambient heat from the engine.

K&N will definitely increase your mileage but i am just wondering if you guys know some alternative cold air intake kit that performs like K&N. I just wanna save money. If you know some aftermarket car part that performs like K&N let me know. BTW maybe lowering also your car can also increase fuel mileage because it generates less drag and your car can accelerate quickly.

you get what you pay for. bite the bullet and buy the real deal. also, is how much your going to spend lowering car really gonna outweigh the money you save in gas? doubtful.

I think i just saw that description on the net. If you lower your car the more easier you can gain speed. Oh yeah i think your right with that. Just go for the real deal. I am not sure about the price of lowering kits. But i am really pretty sure that it will add performance when it comes to speed. I will look for that thread again and post it here.
