Default Coolant/Radiator Question!

Hi there,

I recently upgraded from my 1990 Volvo 240 DL to a 1999 S70 GLT Turbo. I have had it about 4 months and it runs perfectly. Since I have had it i've put about 10k miles on it and the low coolant light has come on 3 or 4 times. So we top off the coolant when the light has gone on and the light goes away...until it returns a month or so later. My boyfriend and I both have checked and double checked and it doesn't appear to be leaking anything at all and the car never has overheated or even shown signs of an increase in temp. I do run the air conditioner daily... actually pretty much all the time. We were concerned that maybe something is wrong with the radiator or cooling system components but I thought I'd see if anyone else has had a similar experience before I race to the mechanic... afterall, I am new to the S70 & "turbo"s plus the car itself shows no sign of anything being wrong. Any thoughts would be appreciated greatly!

Thanks,
Stephanie

Default RE: Coolant/Radiator Question!

Check the bottom of the coolant bottle for cracks. Also check around where the upper rad hose meets the engine and make sure it isn't weaping the thermostat housing. Also look on the back of the enigne for signs of leaks.
