Default Cruise/Speedo Problems

I was recently driving my 1999 S70 AWD on the highway, and my cruise control suddenly cut out. At first I thought I might have tapped the brake or something, so I tried resetting it but that didn't work. Shortly thereafter, my "BRAKE" and ABS light flashed on, then off. Then my speedo cut out, then my odometer as well. Eventually, everything started working normally except for the cruise. When I finally stopped and restarted my car, everything worked including the cruise.

From what I gather from reading other posts, it sounds like the ABS module is going bad. Is there a way to check it? Is it something that I should try and take care of before it goes out completely?

Thanks for the help.

You should send it in to Victor Rocha for repair. It's about $140 or so, and that's way better than what Volvo will charge you for it. I think there's not much to check, once your speedo/cruise/odometer cut out - and when the ABS/BRAKE lights come on.

There's a bunch of companies/ places that rebuild those. Vic Rocha is a good guy, I often use BBA- Reman for mine- they're quick, cheap, and guarantee them for life.

You also might want to check the connector and make sure it's sitting tight on the module. I had the same problem and realized it was because the wire harness for some reason doesn't want to sit on the module properly. I put a zip tie around it to hold it on tighter and it seems to be working fine.

Just something to consider before spending the money.
