Default dash mounting tabs

i had posted on an earlier thread about a loud popping type noice near the front window/ dash area. someone responded that it was probably broken mounting tabs.
yesterday my car was in for routine service, i mentioned the noise to the shop and they said it did not sound familiar to them, is it a common problem? i could not remember the term "dash mounting tabs" so maybe that was the problem.
the sound is now not only on one side but across the entire dash, is this a problem? other than the noise, is there any reason to correct this problem?
thanks in advance

Not really I always fix them when I have the dash out doing an evaperator or someone complains.
It is just an annoying noise.
Just to repair the tabs we charge I believe about 2 to 3 hours depending on how bad it is.

Oh BTW a very common problem here in FLA.

the noise i hear is a loud pop or it sounds like a rock has hit the window. sometimes i hear it several times a day sometimes it goes days without making a sound. does that sound like the mounting tabs or something else.
forgive my cluelessness but... when you mentioned evaporator repair it got me thinking. i often have had problems with water pooling in the vents and leaving a disgusting stink in the car. the shop sprayed something which did not help and had to go in thru the vents and dash and clean the drain pans, could that have caused this problem?

No it will not cause the problem.
Yes it sounds like the tabs might be broken. When you hit a bump does the dash kind of flop at all?
