Default Drive shaft treasure hunt "driving" me crazy...

Hi, i've got a Volvo V70 T-5 2.3L AWD Automatic (176kW 239hp) 1998 modell (Registered in germany 10.07.1997)
with ABS.

I'm searching for the front drive shafts that fits my car. (Right and left.)
Volvo dealerships all over Norway and Sweeden has given prices that estimates from 420$ per drive shaft and up to 1100$ per drive shaft.
None have been 100% sure it's going to fit...
and paying 500-1000$ for just the work that didn't fix my problem is a issue for me since I had a bad accident i 2021 that made me unable to go back to work...
So my income is greatly decreased for taking such a gamble, when my workshops say "no guarantee it will fit"..

Can someone please help me locate the parts? Or help me figure out what front drive shafts that fits my model?

Any help will be greatly appreciated..

CV Axles have always been very fun on the earlier volvos. For some reason they have 5 million different options. CV's you cannot run cheap or else they will wear out quickly and will need to do the job again. Brands like GKN (OE parts) are good but aftermarket brands tend to lack in quality. The prices they gave you will be for Volvo brand CVs and they will be expensive while OE replacements can you save you $100 or so. Since your car came from Europe I would assume it will be different than the American models here, which is what most people here have knowledge on. However, I am VERY surprised that the dealership cannot give you a correct axle part # by using your VIN. Another way to find out which one you have is to have the CV removed and measure it from end to end, which is not easy to do with the lack of straightness on a CV.

Here we call the axles that go to the wheel hubs, CV axles and the drive shaft is what connects the transmission (or angle gear) to the rear diff.

Sorry for a lack of an answer, but hopefully the info can help you find a cheaper option.

The search drove me nuts, but eventualy i found a place that sell them both for around 600$.
the shop is called drivlinje.no
The left side should be a perfect match (what the seller told)
and the right side is 4milimeter (0.15 inch) bigger, so he told me i could mount both and test them. And get a refound if they didn't fit and i delivered them back myself. Not so far to the shop so it's a ok deal, considering that the Volvo shops said it was no refound "what so ever" on a part worth 600$ - 1000$ that they would try to mount. So Volvo dealerships are not kind in any way here... Also they get bothered and kinda upset if you give them a tougher question and ask questions about the parts in detail. They also got alot of info about my car, said they had both. But i was asking about more details on the parts, and it turned out that both was wrong fitment for my car. I have a automatic, and they even had all the info they needed to 100% find the right part. But still almost ordered manual parts! But luckily i was digging more and wanted pictures That they did NOT like i asked about...
the guy in parts storage section was nice at first, but quickly turned grumpy..?
So they sendt the pictures, took away the prices since they didn't want me to see that.
I stopped everything with them, i felt like i was being scammed by a original volvo dealership!
Hope the new drive shafts fit.. Cause taking a gamble on the dealerships with the right side fitment still seems like a scam, since it's 680$ on something they think will fit but without a refound even tho they are the one to test mount it...

thanks for the ansver btw, the search when I wrote CV axle and driveshaft rly made my Brother warm after top many searches.

(Sorry for my rusty English)

Also, make sure you replace the bolts at the end of the CVs. They are torque to yield and are 1 time use!
