Default Electric motor noise

When I start the car put it in drive and start moving I hear an electric motor sound for about 5 seconds. I also hear this sound after stopping. Now this noise sounds as if the bearings in the electric motor are going bad. Can anyone tell me what this is. Is it part of the ABS system or what.

Thanks

You didn't indicate where the noise is coming from. If it's on the driver's side just behind the bumper it may be your SAS air pump (electric motor driven). Check here for further info:

Welcome to the forum.

Where is the sound coming from? Under the hood ( a specific area). The under carriage (which side?)

Simul8 beat me to the question. Welcome also to you. If you both could sign into the "New Members area' and peruse the forum, other members will get to know you.

Thanks Guys, after reading the article from you link I think it is the SAS pump.
That's a mighty expensive air pump.
