Hello everyone, i recently bought a 99 s70 t5 with the 2.3 turbo fwd. The engine has a spun bearing and the 2.3s are extremely hard to find.
i was wondering if anyone knows if i buy a 2.4 engine will it bolt on to my transmission and if i also bought and installed the ecu from the same car that i pulled the engine out of will i have to reflash at the volvo dealership. Thanks in advanced.

The 2.4 will bolt right up. Need a 2.4 turbo engine for the oiling. Or you can add the oil drain hole if you drill the block on a NA.
Where are you located that 2.3s are hard to find ?? Please add location in your "User CP".

Thank you for the response. Im not to sure what you mean by drilling the block on an na cause they are both turbos.
Some one told me today that i should also swap the 2.3 turbo, injectors and ecu to the 2.4 for extra power but that i would need premium fuel to compensate for the higher compression ratio. would you have anything to add or take away from that statement?
Also What else would i have to do to complete the swap?

 

GO on Car-part.com I saw a few 2.3 engines available. Unless you have already got the 2.4 I would go with a direct swap 2.3....Just my .02

 

Yeah I already bought the 2.4. It was an awesome deal. It was in a junk yard 4 miles from where i live and they charged me 300 for it already pulled from the car. But im thinking of picking up a 99 v70 R with bad tranny today but i wanted to know if any of you guys know which awd trannys will bolt on to this engine. Will any v70 awd tranny bolt on? I need to know real soon so i can decide if i want to buy the car or not thanks in advance.
