EVAP CEL advice
Just need a push in the right direction. My inspection is due this month, of course and now my CEL is on with a EVAP large and small leak (2 Different codes). I have replaced gas tank cap, O ring was extremely worn. I have also traced EVAP lines to the canister, purge valve back to tank. I found from purge valve to cylinder head hose had a nice little tear in the hose. I have replaced all hoses easily access in engine compartment for the EVAP system. Does anybody have anything else to look for that is common to this problem. I didnt write code numbers down, but I think one was the 0455. It has been reset after every repair attempt made by myself. Any TSB's or recalls I need to know about?? I know sometimes hoses on the gas tank itself can lose pressure. I dont know if anybody has experienced that or not.

Did you say the "fuel pumps are cracking"? I have no idea what that means. Are you refering to an out put hose of somesort? Applying pressure to the fuel tank would be good to try. I assume you want me to check fuel tank for leaks?
It isn't one of the lines that leak. It will leak air from 2 different spots.
1.Where the wires go through the housing to the pump.
2.Next to where the wires enter is a little dip in the housing like a hole. It will crack at the bottom of the hole.
If you apply pressure you have to have a regulator inline and don't go over 3 PSI.

Hi again, got a good fix for you on the EVAP CEL I recently posted for. I took pics of my problems that I found.I was having small and large EVAP leaks detected CEL. I took pics with good reference points for you. I had multiple large rubber hose tears. I hope this can help someone. I am not a certified Volvo technician but I did alot of hands on examination of this system. (GM myself)lol

1. Locate your canister for EVAP system. My hose from canister shut valve to canister=BAD
Your canister shutoff valve is located above cansiter, or at least on my car it was.

2. There is two main hoses on the EVAP canister I found, one to the shutoff valve, and one from canister to fuel cap area. The second hose also had a very nice size tear as well. Trace your hose back from the canister up behind passg side wheel, it is a factory split hose, half rubber half harden plastic types. Mine had a tear right where the two different hoses actually connect to each other.

3. This is the entire assy i pulled out today. It is the shutoff valve, and two lines i discussed earlier. The valve I tested myself was =ok It is not a difficult job to do yourself. This is all I found today in the back section of the car, now to the front side of the car (engine bay).

4. This is a pic of a vacuum hose right off of the upper intake plenium. This hose is part of the EVAP system as well. It connects to your Canister purge valve. Your valve is located above the radiator, drivers side, beneath the plastic cover. My hose had a very large tear at the intake side of this hose. The hose I am referring to is the one with the shiney new looking hose clamp with a flathead drive on it, not the thin whit line with the filter on it.
I hope this was informative for you. If anybody has any questions let me know. Oh yeah, do yourself a favor and get all new USA hose clamps, with mr. phillips heads on them, you will thank yourself for that later. PEACE out
