Default Exhaust Noise after upper engine mount replacement

This is a strange problem. Replaced the upper engine mount (the one that attaches to a bracket mounted to the engine and then a torsion arm that mounts at the firewall). This mount was difficult to install and required quite a bit of hammering to get in place. I probably should have removed the bracket from the engine and made a jig as suggested in other postings, but regrettably I opted for brute force.

In any event after replacing the mount I notice increased exhaust noise. I looked under the car and didn't see anything obvious. I didn't actually check that all of the header bolts, and exhaust connections are tight. What should I check and what could account for the increased exhaust noise?

Anytime you replace a mount there is a big chance that you can expose another weak link. I would check the exhaust connections and your passenger side motor mount.
