Default failed inspection

I have a 98 S70 that I took for inspection. reason listed for failure is intake air temperature circuit low imput, any ideas. Asked localvolvo machanicand he said he had never heard of any such thing. Any help would be appreciated.

OBD code P0112 - Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Sensor 1 Circuit low input.

This converts to the Volvo code ECM1200. Possible causes are short circuit in the signal cable or damaged IAT sensor (in the Mass Air Flow sensor).

The check engine light should be on.
