door pannels comming unstuck
Hey guys, I think it just be a well known S/V70 problem but the door panels on cars with leather interiors eventually become unstuck.
I am referring to the panel that has the window switches, door handle in it hot the whole outer door panel. In cars with cloth interiors these seem to be cloth and do not surfer the same problem.
I have attached a picture that I found to show what I am talking about.
The dealers all want to replace the panels, is there another way to fix this?
If not how easy is it to buy the panels and DIY? Do the internals of the door have to come of or can the panels be removed by removing the window switches and the mirror adjuster (drives only) and the plastic that surrounds the door handle.
Thanks
James

I heated mine up withstemto soften the leather and injected glue. I did not want to pull off the leather because i was afraid i was going to tear it. But your looks like it is almost off. You couldtake door panel off and re glue the whole thing but your going to need hot steamto soften the leather so you can re stretch it.
One of main things I like about my 850 better than my v70 is the door panels. The arm rests are way more comfortable on the 850 also. My 98 V70 has the same problem with the leather bubbling up, but not quite as bad, so I have not done anything to fix it. I would definitely try heating and reglueing before buying new door panels.
Thanks for all the help guys, that picture is not my car, it was one that was for sale on ebay. Mine are not yet that bad. I am going to try and heat them up with the hairdryer and push the leather back in place.
JAKESTERSHow did you inject the glue and what type did you use? did that not leave a needle mark in the leather?

Just as a note before I forget, I have seen some S/V70's that I have stiching accross the doors, above and below the door handel. I guess this must have been a re-design for replacement pannels and later model cars. At a guess I would say that 2000's had them fited as standard but corect me if I am wrong
Yes it left a small hole i was OK with that.I used a two part glue using a needle for putting seasoning under the skin ofchicken etc. My wife was pissed because i ruined hercooking stuff.LOL.
