Default a few questions about s70s in general

I have owned a 1999 s70 base 5 speed for about a year now and i love it. The steering rack needs to be replace and that will be getting done next week. Once that is done i need the ETS light checked out. I was wondering that if the ETM needs to be replaced, is it still under warranty? ( vehicle is at 98k miles). Once i am done with that, i want to start turning it into a vehicle worth while. Anybody have some good ideas on upgrading this for a low cost (college student). I am thinking about putting an XC grille in it because i just love the look of XCs. Is that worth it? someone give my their 2cents.

I can't answer if it is still under warranty or not, but I will warn you if it isn't expect to pay $900-$1200 for the replacement if they need to replace it. More then likely they will just clean it, which IMO is a temp fix and they are only trying to get out of paying for the replacement themselvs.

Well as far as upgrading what do you want to do? Engine Performance, Suspension, Cosmetic? Also what is your budget like, yes poor college student but that still doesn't give us a baseline to work with. How much can you afford per month to mod or per year to mod?

XC grille is nice I have one on my s70. Looks great! However brand new they are $250 and used your looking at $125 and Erie Vo Vo might have one in stock used for that price. If not good luck finding a used one.

FYI, since your a base model I'd stay away from the engine performance and stick with suspension and cosmetics. Your not going to gain much power without lots of money. Also just an FYI nothing is cheap for our cars so expect to pay high prices for things you might think would be or could be had on the cheap like they might be for Honda or something like that. Not the case, never going to happen expect to pay the bucks.

If you don't want to spend the $ on a grill, as I had the same plans, you can paint it as I have done to mine, and I enjoy the looks of the finished product, and many others who have done the same. just mask off what you don't want to be painted, pull off the badge, spray, and voila.
