Default Full fuel tank range

Just curious if anyone's tested their car from full to empty, how many miles they can go. Particularly, highway.

I was amazed, today I ran my car as low as I dared to. I'm currently getting 24 MPG, so with an 18.5 gallon tank (70 liters), that's 444 miles. I did 390 before filling up. It took 16.4 gallons - so if you do the math on the remaining 2.1, that makes 440 miles. Pretty close figures.

I'm guessing I should be able to get about 27 highway. That would be 500 miles before it completely runs out. Seems a little crazy!

Just wondering how realistic my approximations are. I'm planning on a road trip within the next few months. Not that I'm going to risk running out of gas on a highway in the middle of nowhere, but more that I want to get an idea of how far we can go on a tight gas budget. Particularly if New Hampshire to Tennesee and back is possible on $200!

That's one of the nice features of these cars is their large tank size considering the engine size, giving you the excellent range.

Once had a '98 Malibu w/V6; any time you got over 200 miles from last fill-up, it was time to start looking for another gas station. Think it barely had 14 gal capacity; terrible.
