Hi,

I'm new here so if this isn't the right way to post things, I'm sorry! I will have owned my 1998 S70 for two years in July. From the get-go, the car has always spewed gas fumes through the A/C- mostly when it is idling at lights, but I have noticed a smell while driving also on a few occasions. I love the car very much and hate the thought of getting rid of it, but the fumes are so annoying (seller had the windows rolled down during all test drives, which is why I never smelled it- d'oh!). I have had it checked out by my Volvo specialist, who said he couldn't even smell it during his test drive. That was a year ago and I am at my wit's end now- just ready to give up on the car. Has anyone else had this problem or know how to fix it? Any help would be much appreciated!

More info about the car:

-odometer reads 183k, not actual mileage due to rebuilt engine
- It is a GLT Turbo
-Fuel pump was replaced this past February, did not alleviate issue
-Air filter was replaced within the first month of owning the car, did not alleviate issue either

You likely have a vacuum leak causing vapors to fill the area under the hood. Look, touch, and bend every vacuum line you can find.
