Gear Shift

My daughter has a 2000 s70 glt. I order to shift the gear shift lever she has to hit the overide button. Is this normal and if not is there a way to bypass this.

I never seem a s70 w/overdrive button on the shifter, what country r u from?? what engine u got in it??

If she has to push the shift lock button to get it out of park something is wrong. Common problems is the ignition switch and cable lock.
