I was aware that they had other engines than the I5 in their cars, like the S80, I didn't know that they don't have the I5 in the 70 series. I thought the inline 6 was an option, maybe the base model still having the I5. I agree, I always saw the I5 has a Volvo signature engine, I know other cars have it, but Volvo seems to be the only one that uses it as their main engine. As long as the S60 has the inline five years to come, I'll be happy. After my 850/70's series are done, I'm going to pick up an S60 T5, or if it's affordable then, a S60R, those are sexy cars.

BlazeS70-have you done any upgrades to your GLT? Or is it stock at the moment?

simul8guy- Hey, seeing your signature and that you have obviously driven your share of T5's, how would you compare that to a GLT? I mean I know it's obviously higher performance, but do you think it's worth upgrading a GLT, or waiting until I can get my hands on a T5 and upgrading that.

simul8guy-I meant that it's rare to find an I5 outside of Volvo

gilber33-The 70 series does have I5's. It's stock...for the moment. So far I've only done the belts, water pump, antenna and a couple small things. I got stuff like sparkplug wires, a new turbo control valve, elbow joints for my EVAP sys. (b/c the CEL is giving a code for a EVAP leak), and my dad ordered a ipd black mesh grille that's currently on backorder and will hopefully be here by the end of the month for my birthday...and my license! But I'll definately be planning to continually make it less and less stock the longer I own it.

Oooh, I know, I meant that I didn't know the newer XC70's were mainly I6's. So mostly making it to stage 0 then? And those IPD black mesh grilles are really nice, if I do get my dad's S70 I'm definitely putting one of those on it, especially because it's white as well, or I was thinking of even getting a mesh grille and then color match it. How many miles does it have on it?

Mine's white too, but I kinda like the black/white contrast...I was thinking of buying black rims one day. By the time I'm done with it, it will be taken to Stage 0...but not all at once. Between my dad's health problems and my high school/band/friends...I don't have the time to do it all at once nor the experience or confidence to do it by myself.

Mine has over 151,000.

Has anyone else ever been called "stupid shiny Volvo owner"? Maybe it's just because I'm in high school with plenty of Twilight-addicted friends who get excited when they hear I own a Volvo. I hear that Edward (the main character every girl is in love with) has a Volvo S70 in the book, but drives a C30 in the movie.

The black white contrast would look cool too, IPD has a project car where the grille is color matched and I thought it looked pretty nice. And I have been called a stupid shiny Volvo owner by one of my friends once, that's kinda funny.

Yes, I have heard the Twilight references. Never had anyone call me stupid for driving a Volvo though...Although, I like the fact they drive Volvo's fast and are hyped as being attractive upscale cars with a sporty flair. I put a sticker on my car that say " I drive like a Cullen " It's corny - but I think it's funny as well. I drive with haste and like to pull off manuevers so I thought it was fitting.

He does drive a C30 in the movie (I didn't know it was an S70 in the book - cool! S70 in the spotlight!) He gets a new XC60 in the newer movies I know.

Speaking modern references to Volvos - it always bothers me in Kanye West's song "buy the whole family Whips, no Volvos...what do you think I rap for? to push a f***ing RAV4." Saying Volvos are trashy pretty much and in line with Rav4? BOOO! Shame on you Kanye...
