Default hard knock on right side

2000 S70 turbo, when I hit a pot hole on the right side, I feel and hear a hard knock on the right front, what kind of problem do I have?

There could be a couple things causing that. My guess would be a bad sway bar link, worn sway bar bushings, or the upper strut mount.

Could also be the engine mount under the crank pulley is worn out.

I was having the same problem, and I eventually ended up replacing the entire suspension/steering system. The first run, I replaced the struts, spring seats, shock mounts, and swaybar endlinks. This solved the problem for a while, but then it came back. The second run, I replaced the inner/outer tie rods, control arms, and heavy duty swaybar endlinks. Since the second run, I haven't had the "knock" come back. I also replaced the right spring seat a total of three times, thinking it was the weak link.

In a nutshell, I would say that the problem is either the control arms or the swaybar endlinks. I would suggest the iPd heavy duty swaybar endlinks - they're relatively cheap and ridiculously easy to replace. If that doesn't fix it, I would try replacing the control arms. Not a simple job, but not too difficult. The bushings on my blown control arms were completely destroyed - basically non-existent.

Best of luck with the repairs!

So our son's S70 is making a clunking sound on the right side. Is there a swaybar end link on both sides or just the right side? Never mind got a chance to look at the car.

Went to Napa yesterday and bought 2 new ends. Clunk is gone and all is well again.
