I have a 1998 S70 and I cannot get the power window to come back up. I put it down on Friday without any issues. When I got home, I tried to put it up and nothing. All other power windows work fine. When I push on the door button to put it down (even though already down) I here the click, but when I pull up on the door switch to bring it back up, nothing. I have pulled the panel off and checked all the connectors, they seem fine. There doesn't appear to be any fuse specifically for the river's door. Is there a way I can get the window up? Will I most lily need to replace that whole door switch?

So I was able to get the window up by switching the wires around on the switch. I actually removed each of the individual wires from the white cap and placed them individually on the connectors. Questions now... does all this indicate that my door switch is bad?

 

It probably is. I had the same issue as you, except the rear passenger window won't go up and down from master window control switch. I took the thing apart, and it's really ancient technology. When you press the switch down, it's pushing two 'pins' to make contact with a circuit. It's really easy for this to cause a short circuit, when they get out of alignment. That's what happened to mine, and I could see where things were burned in there.

I simply reach back and use the rear passenger control when I want to control that window now. As far as yours goes, if it's the driver window you're having problems with, you'll more than likely need to replace the whole switch, to save yourself some grief. I think I've seen them online for about $100. Actually, here's one on Amazon for $90.

My guess would be the switch as well. The common fix is to replace the entire unit. However, I have taken the switch apart as well, and when apart I could see what looked like carbon build up to me. Cleaned off easily with a soft brass wire brush. Put it back together and I was good to go.

You could also leave the wires connected to the rear door switch and run it like that until you get around to it. Just operate the rear door with the door switch on that door.

 

you can dismount the switch and try to fix it by opening and cleaning contacts inside. it will take you maximum 10 minutes. al you need is small screwdriver, small amount of medical alcohol and cottonwool.
