I broke my RH drive axle and control arm and there was also a stel plate that came off the car that I'd like to identify.

Imagine a simple steel rectangle with 4 corner notches in it (kind of like a Chevy logo without the "slanted" sides).

The part also (if I remember right) has 8 holes, 2 on each side on it, (about 3/8 or so?).

Any help on what this part is?

I didn't see any bolts or screws that came off with it -- some sort of shield maybe?

I'm not sure it came off the car but if it sounds familiar to someone....?

Only 4 holes in and not on the edges....more inset....probably 8 or 9" wide, 6" high or so.

 

Doesn't really sound like something that fell off.
