Default HIDs anyone?

I know a few people on this forum have done HIDs on their s70 or 850... so...

i think i might finally do it. questions

1) any problems with the bulb out warning?

2) any big installation snags?

3) lenses and aiming. did you get e-codes, jewels, or just aim the headlights down a bit?

thanks in advance

1. No problems at all
2. Easy installation
3. I have aftermarket lights but had to aim them down a little bit.

1. 1999 s70 AWD

2. SharpHID.com (Bought their Apexcone 35w system with 5,000K bulbs)

3. I have them in the ABM projector headlights.

4. I had a local shop aim them as when I tried it was off and it was just easier to have a pro do it at the time. But it can be done by yourself.

5. Install was about 30-45 minutes per side and the most destructive thing is drilling a hole in the back of the LOW beam housing cap to allow the wires and bulb to pass through.

6. If your putting them in regular lenses and housings your more then likely going to blind people big time. You can use the regular housings and lenses just not the best option. Best would be to get the projectors, but you'll spend $400+ just for those.

FYI buy your HID's from SharpHID.com, John will help you.

Oh and occasionally I will get the light CEL on mine, but I just turn the lights off then back on and the light goes away. Probably a loose wire on my end of things.

Had mine done yesterday on my 99 S80 2.9 after a couple of hours I was getting a message saying something about "BULB FAILURE DIPPED BEAM" now the guys that installed it are only open mon-sat & now I have to wait til saturday because they close before I get home from work. But I really like the how much better the HID are, better illumination now I see why everybody wants them.

Is hid's still the way to go or could I just get the piaa Xtreme? I just need it to be brighter, but don't want to spend $$. What about reconditioning the headlight lenses?

HID all the way. Don't spend the money on PIAA when you can spend that on good HID's from SharpHID.com

Reconditioning is what way? clean them?

yeh, I think they sand them down with fine to super-fine grit 400-3000 then polish them with with metal polisher or rubbing compound then some even seal them. I saw a few on you-tube.

I'll gonna try the HID's as suggested, my headlights are way too dim.

Thanks

The speed shop cant figure out how to get the message "Bulb Failure Dipped Beam" to go away they tried changing the Ballast but still no luck is there something I can suggest they do the guy said he was gonna call his people to see what's causing the message. I know I read somewhere in this forum someone else who encountered the same problem but I cant remember what the solution was. Any one know how to eliminate this problem ? Oh yeah would help if I list the model 99 S80 - she's problem free so far will be a year in my hands love the car so far..
