humming from front wheel??
2000 s70 glt se, 148k miles, been awhile since I needed to ask a question, but while driving today, I got a humming noise from the left front wheel, hit brakes and it went a way a sec then came back. felt the wheels when I got home and the left front was hot, the rest cool. I have notice a vibration lately like a warped rotor, so is it time for a brake job, new pads and rotors? or do I have a stuck caliper? thanks
you should be able to manually press the pad back into the caliper then reapply the brakes to see if it glides or sticks before you disassemble. If NG, get some brake grease, remove the caliper and inspect the pins for corrosion and lube so it can slide more freely. Otherwise you may have corrosion inside the piston and either need to rebuild (hone/new seal) or replace the caliper... I'd try the first two as they are "free". Its quite possible you have warped the rotor so check that out as well.
