I did it!
So, after much deliberation (and overall frustration at the current used car market- thank you cash for clunkers for lowering the supply in that arena), I have purchased my first Volvo.
My mom always had volvos when I was a kid (80s and 90s), and although we teased her about the boxiness of those vehicles, my brother now owns a 96 850 after mom's 88 wagon needed too much work, and I just purchased a
1999 S70 2.4L AWD with 149K for $3400.
The car is beautiful inside and out. The motor purrs. Leather has no rips or even severe creases. I'm into equestrian sports so I'm gonna throw some excellent leather products on it and keep it soft.
I thought I heard the clunking of a failing cv joint, but now I'm thinking that was just some snow because it stopped. When it's cold it takes a minute for the coolant light to go off, but it doesn't run hot and when I got my oil changed yesterday they didn't say anything about it being low (which they would). Also said light doesn't come back on after that initial minute.
Only other faults really are that the rear passenger window doesn't work from the driver's door, the speaker in the driver's door isn't working, the same door clunks like a bad check strap (maybe that ate a couple of wires?), and the radio's a little... blah.

So, I want to update the stereo and then take a look in that door. When the mechanic finishes with my brother in law's car I'll think about half-shaft replacement if the clunk returns.
What's a good Double DIN stereo (I really don't need another pocket) that has bluetooth and a front aux in (my mp3 player is not an ipod). My phone has GPS so I don't need that and I think DVDs are unneccessary, but I do like big screens and touch screens anyways. Maybe this

Otherwise I ordered a tape deck adapter and I'll wait for a good sale/black friday next year/ebay.
