Mass air flow replacement

Mass air flow replacement
Hello,
I was driving my 98 S70 today and upon trying to pass another vehicle, I accelerated and the car struggled to pass. It chugged quite a bit then all of a sudden my check engine light came on. Could this be my mass air flow sensor?? If so is there a sight somewhere that would provide some info on the replacement procedure?
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

I got the exact same symptoms and it was a bad MAF.
1. Check the code, probably P0103
2. Use ONLY Bosch MAF, nothing else.
I bought from ebay for $150 (the cheapest price).
Do NOT buy "MPG" brand on ebay, it is a bad copy of the MAF.
3. Replacing MAF is straightforward:
- Locate the Air Filter
- The MAF is just next to it. There is really nothing to it.
- D/C the clamps (screwdriver and Torx keys).
- D/C the connector.
- There is an O-ring on the Air Filter Side(standing facing the engine, the O-ring is on your R hand side), so make sure the O-ring is not lost.
Overall, there is really nothing to this DIY, if you can replace a light bulb, you can do this job, very easy.
For now, you might want to unplug the MAF so the car does not stall (it runs on LIMP HOME mode) until you get the new MAF.
Some people may tell you to clean with MAF with CRC cleaner, it is usually a band-aid fix then the problem will come back. Best is a new BOSCH MAF.
Good Luck.
