My torque bushing tore through again, so I've wasted the last few hours trying to replace it. Long ago, I had the polyurethane kind that came in two halves, but I replaced it with an IPD one since I didn't like the vibration.

Now, I have a Volvo part, and it is a total pain to install. When I compare the old and the new, this new one just looks thicker, but I don't if that's just be/c the older one got squeezed thinner over time.

I'm been trying with my makeshift press that all various people have suggested. It went in pretty crooked for about half an inch. I banged it back out to straighten it, but I still can't seem to get it in straight.

I don't remember the IPD one ever being such a pain! So, I am wondering if they differ minutely in size. I've read other stories about how someone got by just tapping the edges with a hammer to get it in.

At this point, I put the totally torn bushing back in, and I am going to see if I can hobble over to NAPA or some place to get a part that will work for me ... If not, then I'll have to see if a shop can push it in.

 

I put in a URO brand aftermarket and it was loose when pressed into the frame. It took just a little bit of effort to push it in so I left it but over the long run I fear it will start slipping around.
