How do I tell if I have a GLT GT or Base?

 

Most variants have a chrome badge on the lower right of the tail (like "GLT" or "T5"). Also the GLT has a turbo engine which you can recognize under the hood. The GT I think should have a spoiler on the trunk lid.

 

I got my insurance done today on my volvo and on the paperwork it says 1998 Volvo s70 GT? So I don't know if I have a gt or not it says I do based on carfax I guess. I don't think I have a spoiler on the trunk. Any ideas on how to find out based on VIN?

 

I am pretty sure that the dealer would have access to this info accessible through a database. Not sure if they'll help you out, but it won't cost them anything to answer the question, so it's worth a shot.

I really don't understand where you are coming from. Why don't you know if you have a spoiler on the back of your car? Are you near the car? Can you look on the back of the car and see if there are any other letters on the back of it other than the S70? Also, if you open the hood, look at the motor, you should be able to tell if it has a turbo. All of the turbo models have a fat black pipe going over the top of the right side of the engine.

 

I do not have a spoiler on the trunk, the reason I was asking was because the insurance info from carfax says it is a GT, I know it is not a turbo that is obvious. But the trim level showed up as a GT, so I am going to call the dealership and find out based on my VIN or VIC. I tried that website and it doesnt tell you the trim, at least I coudlnt find it there.

 

Well, the trip only has options, so really it doesn't matter. Do you have leater seats? Do you have heated seats? To be honest with you I don't think there is such a thing as GT, there is a GLT, which is turbo. Just stick what is on the trunk lid. S70, S70 GLT or S70 T-5.
