Default New - T5 help/questions

Hey guys, new here. Just got a 98 T5 (auto) and I just have a few questions in my pursuit to some power. I know it'll never be as fast as my Mustang, and I'm not going to try. I just would like to make it fun.

Anyway, my car has 193,000 on it and I know Volvos can run for 200+ though I was thinking about putting in new rod bearings at least just to be sure. That's one of my main things, other than that is to flush the intercooler, replace the hoses, rebuild the turbo (it's a TD04-16T right?) new plugs, wires, cap etc. new brakes and go from there.

I'm wanting to do a 3" downpipe, a custom exhaust to a magnaflow muffler, a MBC (what boost should I realistically set it at?) with a chip later on (the mbc is just for the time being) - a new blow off valve, ipd intake. I'm realistically wanting around 275-285 bhp so any tips on hitting that would be great.

I noticed the T5-R has a different turbo manifold with a revised exit, is it possible to port the stock T5 one?

anyway, any help is appreciated - thanks!

You may want to visit TurboBricks.com or Swedspeed.com. I think you can get 275 with an IPD ecu. What 1/4 mile time are you trying to achieve? How fast was your mustang?

My mustang runs 11.80's on a consistent basis, not bad for a 302'd 67 coupe.

realistically like i said, i probably won't be able to drop the $$ on a ecu right away, at least til february so anything i can do to tide me over til then is worth while i guess.

personally i don't know, i never knew what volvo's ran anyway, i've seen S60R's here run like mid 14s so.. I don't realistically know. I've heard of a few 70's running high 13's but i'm guessing those are modded highly. Anything mid 14 or lower would be fine, something to be able to tear up on the bad drivers in the 05+ mustangs and the older 99-04's
