I'm new to Volvo and to this forum and was looking for any advice or tips you might have for a first time Volvo owner. I recently purchased a 98 Volvo S70 with 88K miles. The car was wrecked in the front end but still runs great and is really fun to drive. So far I have changed the oil, spark plugs, brakes done, and a new thermostat put in. I've heard these cars have some trouble with the timing belt going bad and was wondering how hard it is to replace the timing belt, tensioners, idler pulleys, water pump, etc... I would like to do it myself it all possible but really have no idea how much of a job it would be. Any other things I might need to keep an eye on would be great also. Any advice is welcome. Welcome to the forum. If you do major work on engines then it shouldn't be a big deal. I don't so I had mine done.

Great info! I really appreciate the help. I'm gonna study over the instructions a little more and look at the belt on the car and see whether or not I want to attempt to replace it. Also I went to Autozone today and had them try to find a timing kit for my car and they said they could not get one. Where can I get a timing kit or parts period for my car? thanks

There are others on line and mentioned in the posts for special/specific items. The used parts market is good too. Erie Vovo and others post on Ebay, but sell over the phone all day long.
