Noise from engine
Hello everyone, happy new year. I have S70 GLT and I have such problem, when I start up engine has not noise, but when I drive about 5 minutes there is noise of lifter ticking and after 5 minutes It disappears and everything is OK. I need your advices. Have recently changed oil and filter, 152000 miles. Sorry for my english and greetings from Georiga. Thanks.
How long have you had the car? How often do you change oil? What type of oil do you use?
The post is a little confusing but what I think you are saying is that:
1. When you start the car the motor makes NO noise.
2. After 5 minutes of the motor running it starts making a ticking noise.
3. Five minutes after that the noise goes away.
It is NORMAL for these cars to tick a little when the motor is cold. They have hydralic lifters that do tick from time to time. Usually mine would do it if the car has sat for a week or so. Now if it happens every day you may have a bad lifter or a lifter going bad.

Hydraulic valve lifters
This engine features hydraulic valve lifters which means that valve clearance is adjusted automatically. It is possible that the valve lifters will produce a ticking sound for the first few seconds after the engine is started, while the oil pressure is increasing.
If the car has not been used for a long period of time, this ticking sound may last for up to 15 minutes. This is entirely normal.
Do not exceed 3000 rpm until the ticking sound disappears.
-----------------------------------------
If this is a daily occurance, I would suggest you have the motor tested for it's oil pressure. If the oil pressure is low (usually you will get a low oil pressure warning light in the dash lit - https://www.customers.volvocars.com/...98sv70_019.htm #14 here) it may be causing the lifters to not get the oil they need.
At any rate, if you have a sticky lifter, you may be able to get it to function better with some treatment like Seafoam mentioned. I personally like to stay away from stuff that people add to the motor/fuel/etc. to fix/treat problems but a lot of people have good success with the good treatment products.
Again, how long have you owned the car? How often do you change oil? What type of oil do you use?

hello, thank you for your answers. I changed an oil 3 times past 3 monthes but no changes. now I have shell 10/40 in it. I have my car for about 1 year and change oil at exact time.
I know that lifters noise is usual but mine has it after 5 minute and it is very loud. I remember that this problem has started after I broke oil pan and fixed it. when I went to mechanician it had no any sound, but after fixing it began such sounds.. I read forums and have read that missing or bad o-rings may be reason of engine tick. what do you think?

If you have low oil pressure that would be one thing, but I'm not sure what has happened. If it's loud, you probably need to replace the lifter. If the sound goes away, it sounds like you have some other problem.
The thing that's tricky to me is that you say the motor is quiet sometimes. That being the case, maybe you have an issue that Seafoam may correct. Also, are you 100% sure the ticking is coming from the motor? Nothing in the timing belt area is making noise is it?

98 Volvo S70 GLT Engine Ticking - YouTube I have such ticking, but not always as I said. on cold starts after 5 minutes it begins ticking and againg after 5 minutes it disappears and everything seems OK all day long..
You state you had a damaged oil pan repaired. You might check the oil pick up tube for proper installation. You would have to drop the pan to inspect. I had had this problem on a Ford truck before.
I'd have someone post a video for you. That motor actually sounds like it has a burnt valve or something like that.
Try a Seafoam or tranny fluid treatment. Because your problem is not constant, a treatment may clear it up.

I seen your post over on Matt's site. Maybe the mechanic that repaired your oil pan messed up the seal in there somehow.
