obd II code p0343?
Hi guys.
I got a code P0343 (obdII) - camshaft position sensor A - bank 1 circuit high input.
I dont know what that means. Does anybody have any ideas what that is? Is it the timing of the car?

His car has VVT if someone did a timing belt and has it 1 tooth off then it could throw that code.
I mean it might. 99 was a slpit year for it.
If it doesn't have VVT then the sensor might just be bad.

my car has the vvt sensor. i just did a head job on it and it threw this code at me. the vvt sensor is over the exhaust cam on the passenger side. its only a couple of years old. the term from the code (circuit high input) what does that mean?
Ya i did it myself. this is the second time i had to to a head job on this car. Its at 230,000 miles right now. i didnt lock the cams but did line up the crank with the cams before removing the cam cover. both times doing this job i never took off the exhaust cam pulley. this way worked before. but now i,m getting that code.
i did take the vvt sensor off and put it aside when removing the cam cover. i'm working on the car right now. when i start it it idles but bogs really bad. i'm also getting a code refering to the O2 senor bank 1 but thats only 8 mos old to. this car is stressing me out. all the timing marks are lined up so why would i still get the cam senor code. should i erase that one and try again?
Did you take the exhaust pulley off? (VVT pulley)
If not then I would say sensor or timing out.
If you removed the pulley you are screwed. You will need to lock the cams and go through a special process to set it all back up properly.

whats the process? i never loosened or took the pulley offthe shaft EVER! i've always set the timing marks on the cams and crank pulleys to the machined marks. lining them up with the belt cover (****ty design) and the crank with the line on the bottom of the block (line on block between the 2 noched teeth on crank pulley). i took off the vvt senor and did a quick clean job on it. codes still come up. if the timing is off wouldnt that result into snapping the valves?
If you never took the pulley off it wouldn't be out of time enough to do valve damage.
The process is a major pain and you would have to have a cam lock tool to lock the back side of the cams.
I wonder if you just have it out of time. But to check for sure you would have to lock the cams from the back to make sure.

its timed. i checked and rechecked it and it was off a little. its fixed but now i keep getting P0302 (cylinder 2 misfire). i replaced the ignition coil and spark plug, made sure the fuel injector o-rings where good andchecked the intake manifoldbolts to see if they were lose. and yet i keep getting this code now. any suggestions?
thanks
thanks
compression should be perfect. the head was just redone. it had 6 cracks in it. i had it rewelded and machined by a guy that works on john force's cars. i just keep getting misfires now. #2 for sure and now maybe #3.
with the new spark plug and coil pack there is still no spark. I took out the pulg and pack, grounded the plug, started the car and no spark from the plug. is that a computer issue or bad wires or either or? no vaccum leak.
