i recently just got a check engine light on my 1998 volvo s70 NA..
i went to my friends shop and he plugged in the OBD-II code reader and the codes that came up were;
P0455
P0442

can anyone tell me what they are and if i should get it fixed right away

i meant to say OBD-II code reader

 

The codes are for an evap system leak. It could be many things.

It could be as simple as the gas cap not on correctly to a bad vacuum line in the system to a bad fuel pump assembly.

I always pressurize the system and check for leaks.

i have also been gettin less than 15 miles per gallon

 

That is something different.
The evap system is for the fuel tank system.

On the cooling fan on the drivers side is a valve with a hard plastic hose that goes down under the car to the canister under the car. That is the system that is affected.

 

so i should go to a place that pressurizes and see where the leak is coming from

 

That would be the best. Some places will smoke test it. That means they will pump smoke in there and watch for it to come out.
