Default Oil Filter

Is there a way to replace the OEM oil filter with a more standard filter (One wiht a metal body like American made cars). I notice several filter manufacturers list the S70 and an oil filter, but they sure don't look like they'd fit!!!

You would have to replace the entire oil pan if it matched. The 1998 S70 uses a Metal filter. From there only the Non-Turbo uses it I believe till mid 2000.

Most all European autos come with a plastic filter housing and a cartridge for the inside of the housing. The purpose is for "green" recycling...............rather that toss a piece of metal into the earth, you toss a degradeable paper filter. with that said..........the answer to your question is a big NO. There is not a substitute filter made for a Volvo.
