Default oil leak

Hey guys: I just bought an S70 volvo 1998 from a good friend. I am having two issues. I notice that there is an oil leak I want to say on the rack and pinnion since there is a very slight pull to the right when I brake. Also I noticed that the check engine light is on. I bought it on Monday 3/11/13. The car has been sitting for a bit. A brand new battery was put in. When I got it, I put oil and tranny fluid cause those were down. Last night I noticed the oil leak. Please advise. Also the check engine light?
I am accustomed to working on civics and toyotas. I am new to the Volvo world. Please help

Really gonna need more info to attempt to guess at an oil leak online. Where do you see the oil?

You'll need to have the codes read for the check engine light.

Hi Tiger, welcome to the forum.

The first thing you need to do is read the NEW 850 OWNER thread. That will guide you through a lot.

Second, what color is the fluid you see leaking? Is it leaking while the car is running?

Third, did you properly check the tranny fluid? There is a big chance that the fluid was correct and you have over filled it. Read the owners manual carefully and properly check the tranny fluid so you don't destroy it.

You should get yourself a code reader or you'll be chasing codes all the time with these cars. The pop CEL's all the time. You can get it checked for free at most auto parts stores. Then report the codes back here.

Oh, the slight pull when braking is likely a bad control arm bushing.
