I went to change the oil in our S70 GLT and notice that some oil had dripped on the ground under the car before I even took the oil drain plug out. There was a lot of oil everywhere so I changed the oil, wipped everything down and took the car for a spin.

When I pulled back in my garage and went to go under the car to check for the leak, it was dripping from an oil line near the oil filter. Here is a pic:

1. I would like to know how hard this line is to change?
2. If there is any special tools I need to have?
3. What is the part number I need to request from the steeler so they don't give me the wrong part?

This line is dripping about 1 drop every 5 seconds with the car running.

 

Those lines are available the eeuro folks. I'm not sure how bad of a job it is, but It looks like mine are on the way out as well so I'll know soon enough. I'm pretty sure you'll have to go through the passengers wheel well to gain access.
There are o-rings that fit that line, Is it possible that the line is leaking at one of the connections? It's worth investigating thoroughly as the lines are over $100 a piece. I don't know why they're so high, I was looking at them yesterday with disappointment.

 

The oil cooler lines are common to leak. They leak where the rubber line crimps to the metal line.

A long t-30 helps alot with the job. I can do it in less than 1 hour and some people have spent days replacing them.

There is also a 10MM bolt that is kind of hidden on the front of the motor.

 

Picked up the line yesterday for the steeler, $151. Ouch! My daughter takes the car to college early Sunday am so I have to do it now.

I'll go at it in a few hours. Pretty cold in my garage right now, about 30 degrees. I think I'll take both cars on a warm up spin so they bring the temp up in the garage.

Will I need to drain the oil from the car? I hate that I just changed it.

 

I am not sure how bad the job is, but it seems to me the way out, and so I will know soon. I'm sure you must go through passenger wheel, and access to access. The transmission oil cooler lines is a common leak. They leak such as rubber line hair metal wire.

 

You do not have to drain the oil. You will loose some though when you pull the line out.
