Default P0014 Code on 1999 S70

Greetings,

I have a question on a Poo14 code.

Four years ago I had the engine on my S70 rebuilt.
New seals, gaskets, etc. I drive the car two and a half hours each day and have done so for the last four years.

Recently the code P0014 Cam shaft has come on repeatedly. My mechanic when looking around the engine noticed some fine metal shavings. He is thinking that we might be skipping a beat. He is the one that did the work 4 years ago, and from what I gather he may not have aligned things perfectly at that time. I bought the car for a song and paid a over a few thousand to have the engine fixed as it was burning out oil.

The car runs fine. The car does not show any signs of stress. It has more than paid for itself. As it is not worth a whole lot and as the car has had a sketchy past, I am wondering how long I might expect out of it before it dies and I look for another. I am just amazed that it is showing no stress. Timing belt was done twice since I bought it and all routine maintenance. It gets lucas to help with engine as well.

Thanks for your thoughts!
JD

No answer here but I am wondering how many miles the car has and how many it had when you got it?

Also, I would put a magnetic oil plug in it.

Default P0014 Cam shaft code

Thanks,

The car had 62000 miles when I got it and it now has
165000. At first I thought that it was just a sensor that went.
The metal shavings tell another story.
Thanks for the tips.

I boubt that mechanic did something wrong that lasted 100,000 miles. However, that is not a lot of miles for that motor. They can go 500,000 if serviced well.

I don't understand your first post; where on the engine are the metal shavings? Sounds like rspi assumed they were in the engine oil but i didn't see where you said that..

Here's a good thread regarding your ODB2 code.
