Default P0410 Code

I have a 1998 S70 GLT. It is throwing a P0410 code. It was making a noise before throwing the code, which I now understand to be the air pump. My question is, if I drive it like this for a while without replacing the air pump and air pump check valve, will I damage something else?

It shouldn't hurt anything. The air pump simply pumps air into the exhaust to let the catalytic converter heat up to its light- off temperature faster. It's an emissions control thing. My air pump sounds like a jet engine taking off. I plan to change it, but I make money by fixing other people's cars, not by fixing my own, so... I'll get to it when I either have time, or when it fails completely.
