Default PCV system in NA S70

hi everybody, I've read around all the Volvo forums a lot and heard many people mention about the common PCV problems in the turbo version of the S70, but I currently own the non-turbo version, and today with the engine running, I've noticed small amount of smoke coming out of the dipstick, and the same when I open the engine oil filler cap, do I have a PCV problem?

Hopefully it's not something worst, but I don't seem to have any sign of head gasket problem... Any ideas would be greatly appreciated... thank you...

Sounds like yours is due for new PCV system; fcp and ipd have parts/kits.

Keep in mind that may not fix your smoking dipstick problem, but most likely will. The PCV systems on these cars typically clog up after about 70-100K mls; sooner if car doesn't get regular oil changes or if your engine has a lot of blowby already.

ok so I've searched around on the net and finally found some info regarding non-turbo PCV systems...

then I've also found the article regarding the flame trap, and its removal....

so I went ahead to take the air box connections apart....

then I'm so surprised and disappointed to find out.. that my flame trap have been removed previously by someone already.... but there's plenty of gummed up oil residue there...

so I've got the degreaser and air compressor to have everything cleaned out, and reconnected....

but still smoke coming out of the dipstick damn it...

but what's even more surprising is, even when I pull out the crankcase ventilation pipe, the dipstick is still smoking a bit, so somehow that seems to tell me the PCV aren't the culprit here? Anybody got any ideas? Also where is the EGR?

my oil level is slightly high at the moment the last owner have probably filled it up too high, but I can't get the air filter off (need to get a wretch tomorrow) and I can't find the drain plug, would high oil level cause the dipstick to smoke?
