Hi all,

I'm new to the forums. I joined because I have a couple of questions and greatly require your assistance. We have a 98 volvo s70 non-turbo which had just accumulated 60k miles. We bought the car new in 97 and it has been driving fine until the past winter. Here's the problem:

The car would sometimes have a problem starting. It cranks but doesn't turn over. The battery was replaced a couple months ago. When the car is started, when I gas it, the rev is very rough at low rpms (800-2000). Sometimes, it will eventually die out. The weird thing is that there's no engine light on either. I find this problem occuring more often when the weather outside is precipitated (rain/snow).

Can you guys suggest any solutions to this problem or whether I need to check something. I would bring it to a dealer, but I don't want to spend that kind of money on the car especially since the retail value of the car has been depreciated so much. Thanks in advance!

 

When was the last tune up including Dist cap,rotor,wires, and plugs?
Does it seem like it is running out of gas?

 

Actually, I dont recall the last tune up, mustve been a while ago. Yeah, the car does seem like it might be running out of gas. Also, I believe this occurs more often when im below 6 gallons of gas left. Im going to do a tune up this weekend and hopefully it would help a bit.

 

Fuel pump might be going bad as well.
