Default Poor MPG rate?

Just need some advice,
I have a 1998 s70 glt, and have been noticing that i get a real poor mpg rate, like near 11 mpg. Is there any advice you guys would give me about fixing this issue? What should i do?
So far I have changed my oil last month, kept it toped of. And i have just increased my tire pressure to 36, because of the cold/snow conditions.
But what else should i do/replace?

You have to offer more information.

City driving, idling in driveway? Highway?

Winter gas lowers MPG about 3.

Put in new plugs, clean the Throttle body. Run a fuel injection cleaner in the tank. Is there a CEL on?

Info if you want help?

You should be getting 18 city and 25 highway roughly.

I just replaced my O2 sensor, Throttle position sensor, air filter, and ran some Lucas injector cleaner though.. My car still has a pretty strong odor from the exhaust. I had a check engine light on prior to the replacing the o2 sensor.. I am going to start my own thread, and see if anything comes up.

Well, My fuel economy has increased SIGNIFIGANTLY!! I am now averaging 24mpg in mixed driving (30% city, 60% highway, 10% traffic jams/idle)

Does your car have the Check engine light on? Mine did when the fuel economy was so bad. So I Bought a reader and checked the codes. It said TPS sensor (throttle position sensor) and 02 sensor, bank 1 sensor 1.

I got a used TPS from a junkyard (bolted to the side of the Throttle body under a plastic cover) for $6.00 (worked great and it is off an 850GLT as they have the same part #'s.

And then bought a NEW O2 sensor (first one pre cat) and replaced that. Easy to do took a open ended wrench to remove it, and unclipped the connector. Easy.

I also bought some new spark plugs, and installed them, The old ones were pretty worn.

THe air filter was also a snap. Mine was pretty filthy and had lots of bugs in it..

To top it off I ran some lucas through the Next tank of gas. I will probably use some SeaFoam in the next tank just to be sure.. And May clean the Throttle body with some Throttle Body cleaner just to be sure..

My car no longer stinks, and runs much better.
