Hi

I just bought a 99 S70 and peridocially seeing a complete drain of power steering fluid.

No leaks around the resovoir.

Pump? And is there any possibility of damage to the rack while driving with ought fluid??

It's got to be leaking from somewhere... Fill it up and find the leak, don't stop looking until you do. I have no knowledge of where the fluid flows but operating the steering with no fluid in it will damage something.

Check the rack for the leak... Around the boot areas. Mine was leaking from there. A nice oh $1400 replacement rack was um needed.

Definitely check the boots.

I replaced my rack back in April because it was leaking from the passenger side boot (the driver side was fine). Got a good used one online (be sure to check it when you get it--the one I received initially had a plasma torch cut in it).

Putting it in was a real PITA--you can find a pretty good guide on replacing it online. If you're not up to doing it yourself, then don't torture yourself--spend the money to get it done right.
