Default Question for tech about starter

You stated on a thread, one way to check the starter,is to turn the key to crank position.
do u mean just turn it all the way as if to start the car and leave it there then check the small wire on the starter for voltage.
so if my voltage meter lights up,the starter is bad right.

I can answer this question. Tech will always be the Volvo Master, but I am a professional who specializes in European cars, so I'll try to help in his absence
That test will check if there's voltage reaching the starter terminal, to verify a bad starter if the car isn't cranking at all. But if the car is cranking, that test will tell you nothing about starter health- the starter's solenoid is also a giant relay, and it works by getting power to that terminal, which activates the starter. If the starter is getting power at that terminal, but not turning, and the battery is fully charged, then your starter is probably bad.And yes, you turn it to the start position (have an assistant do this!)

You should try to check for fuel pressure.

You did not state in the top of the post that you were loosing voltage.
You implied the car was not starting. Then said the starter was working.
