Default Question for tech only

Hello,

I am looking to buy a nice low millage S70 between 30 - 60K miles preferliby. I once did have a 98 S70 t5 but it got totalled in an accident just 11 mounths after I bought it. The car had a 100K miles on it when it got in the accident but ran great the time I had it.

I have heard that the 99 - 00 S70's are problematic. I am well aware that the 99-00 do have ETM issues but I also know that volvo did extend its warenty to 10 years 200K miles. But my main question is that besides the ETM issues do the 99-00 S70's have any other issues that I should be aware off. Do the 99-00 models have the same engine and transmission as the 98 models. So basically I want to know if you take away the ETM issues with the 99-00 models is there any difference with the 98 models compared with the 99-00 models. Because in case I find a 99 - 00 model with very low miles and if the car has been very well maintain I will be very tempted.

Thank You

They are pretty much the same engine and trans.
The ABS module go bad the same as the older ones but cause a little more problems when they go bad on the newer ones.

They are overall pretty much the same car.

Just what is the ABS module. And you said why cause a little more problems when they go bad on the newer ones. I would like to know what those problems migth be and how much they would cost to repair.
And also at what miles can i expect the ABS problems.

Thank You

The ABS module can go out at anytime it doesn't have a specific milage or age.

It doesn't cause more $$ problems it does things to the car when it is bad. Once the module is replaced all is good.
