Default Radio anti-theft device

When I got my Volvo S-70 from a routine service the radio anti-theft device was activated because the mechanic had pulled the battery out. I entered what I thought was the correct code number (from memory) but I entered the wrong one; I tried again -- wrong number again. Then, the radio display read "OFF." I went home and retrieved the correct number. I thought if I disconnected the battery it would re-set the anti-theft and I could start over with the correct code. No such luck. Then I read in the owner's manual that I need to leave the ignition in the I position for 2 hours to re-set the code. I'm sure that would drain the battery, so I was wondering if there is any other way to re-set the code without turning the ignition on for 2 hours?

It wont drain the battery if the radio is the only item that is on, i.e. make sure fans and lights are off, etc.. I've had to do this twice, I believe it is the only way.

Turn the switch to position 1 Only the radio position for 2 hours and you should be fine.

Thanks for the information. I also read that you can pull the fuse for the radio to re-set the device. Sounds easier than leaving the key in the ignition for 2 hours. Any info on this ?
