Default Refilling Coolant

I just changed my oil, and drained my coolant, and now I'm unable to refill the freaking coolant and water. Since the radiator cap isn't readily visible, I attempted to fill it from the coolant resorvoir, but this didn't work. Help!

Do I need to remove that freaking shroud? Is there a quick/easy way?

I have not ever totally drained my coolant yet, but I don't think it has a radiator cap. I think you might have to fill through the overflow tank. That's what it looks like to me anyways.

You fill it via the overflow tank, which is where you add when you start to run low. It will take awhile, fill it to the brim let it drain in.... repeat

keep doing that until it drains no more than make sure its not over the line that says max or full.

I checked how much coolant had actually drained from the radiator, and it only totaled about 3.5qts... which is why when I went to fill the overflow tank with coolant, it didn't drain down into the radiator. WTF am I doing wrong here?

So is the overflow tank full? If so then your fine. Are you sure you radiator doesnt have fluid in it?
Also, turn the car on, to get the fluids moving.

How can I drain the full 7+ qts of the coolant system?

Only 3.5qts came out of the radiator petcock.

I'm under the assumption that I didn't completely drain the old coolant, and now I'm a bit concerned that I have a high % of coolant in the system, when I know going above 70% coolant-water is bad.

Running without coolant at all was highly frowned-upon by a friend who's a Volvo Tech, he's getting me all the info I need now.

ok, but you still have coolant in their. The main point is to get the correct amount of fluid in their for the time being so that you can drive the car. Then get the right mix. Let me know how it goes.
