Replacing Ignition Coils a big job?
Hi folks...
This is my first post, but what an incredible forum. I've spent about an hour on here this morning and have gained some incredible knowledge and resource. Thank you.
I have a '99 S70 (base model) and have been told that one of my ignition coils is bad and the other four have cracks in them and could go at anytime. My mechanic wants about $800 to replace them (along with new plugs). If I can do it myself, I can save a little over $500. Is it a big deal to change them out? I have some limited shadetree experience. I changed the plugs out myself a couple of years ago. Is replacing the coils a much bigger job than that? Any special tools required? Any tutorials anyone could point to?
Thanks in advance!
Andy

It is super easy to replace them.
Remove the black spark plug cover(Volvo 24 valve cover)
Then you will see the coils which are being held in with a 10MM screw. Then they will slide out then unplug them and replace.
