Default S70 Alarm and radio lockout

Hi VF,

This is my first post this forum and I am looking for information on how to solve an alarm issue, I bought an s70 for a get around vehicle 6 months ago and i had to replace the starter. The mechanic did not have the radio code and when i got the vehicle back the radio was in the off setting. Now i went fishing and when i can back the car would not start an i was told the alarm was going off all night. The battery is dead. I just replaced the battery and now the alarm is going off every time i enter the car. The car will not start and the flashers are going constantly. I cant install the radio code and i need to stop this alarm. What can i do? Suggestions please.

1) can i remove a fuse or something to stop the alarm?
2) How do i get the radio to where i can enter the code i just got from Volvo.
3) What if this code does not work how do i get the car started to get it to a mechanic.

I would appreciate anyone help with this situation, i have never had Volvo before and this forum is using an old platform with the worst search functions ever designed. (designer). Thanks for any help in advance. Volvo S70 1998

Robert

do you have a key fob? hook up the battery and try locking/unlocking the doors with the fob 5 times and see if that resets the immobilizer.

As to the radio code, you can go to a dealer with your VIN and they should be able to provide the code assuming its the original. If not, look around for a four digit code written in the glove box or on top of the radio unit (slide it out to look)

lock and unlock the car with the key several times and see if you can get the alarm to stop that way. some of these cars had a key fob that imparts some "extra" security and some don't. If you have a key fob you need to use it.

Default Radio Code

There is a Volvo web site that you enter the VIN and answer a few questions and they will text you the code.
