Default S70 Dashboard Noise

Please somebody should advice me on what to do to end this dash board noise as if the dash board is rubbing on something especially if i go on bumpy and unsmooth/rough roads. Its irritating.

The dash has 4 or 5 mounting tabs that pull it tight to the firewall. The plastic gets old and breaks up. Some things help them break faster, like putting your foot on it, leaning on it, or someone pulling up on it. At any rate, when the tabs break apart the entire dash has to be pulled to fix/brace them. Lot of work.

You can Google search "Volvo S70 Dash Tab Repair" or go to www.MatthewsVolvoSite.com. Someone there has a current thread going about it.

Dear RSPI, trying to locate the thread on the dash board repair without success. Will keep trying. I located the srew for the adjustment of the Hand brake and its ok now. The hand brake lever doesnt come up all the way, hittinh the arm rest. Just as i want it now. Will be happier once i can conquerthe dash board noise. The noise seems to come from the piece of plastic near the windscreen where the chassis number is tagged. It looks like its gonna be a big job. Gonna face it one day soon.

My dash was really squeaky, I just removed that plastic guard in front of the windshield to access the hardware that tightens up the dash, I think they were torx screws, mighta been bolts, but either way like a half turn on each one made a huge difference and it was only like a 20 minute job

In this S70 section, the very first STICKY thread is the DIY thread that has a long list of DIY links. There is a link on that page that says "DASH TAB REPAIR" or something like that. Follow that link.

Very easy. There are about 7 screws across the cover, then pull the seal up and it pulls from under the trim under the windshield. 99 Times out of 100 the mounting tabs are broken. I guess it would be worth the try.
