I have a strange rattle, which sounds like it's coming from beneath the dash on the right side on my 2000 S40 Turbo. It happens whenever I go over a bump or am driving on a rough road. A mechanic I took it to said that it could be bushing in my suspension, but, upon examination, said they were fine. Also have new brakes (the sound predates this), so it's not that.

I personally suspect that it's a bracket or something under the dashboard that's loose. But haven't found a mechanic that's willing to go through the trouble of looking (!!!).

Has anyone else experienced this noise? My car is an 2000 S40 Turbo.
